Zamcog was founded in 2004 by Julie-Anne Uggla, initially educating eight children in a single classroom in Kabwe, Zambia. Today Zamcog supports over 450 students in primary, secondary and tertiary education, and training programmes. Their impact on the community in which they serve is immense.
Zamcog is a UK based registered charity focused on raising funds for the relief of poverty through the provision of education in Kabwe, Zambia. Today the charity has turned that single classroom into a boarding and day school including Robert Shitima Primary School and the Markit Secondary School, funded by global financial information and services company, Markit. Through the Lubuto Child Care Centre (LCCC), Zamcog supports children through all their education needs. In addition to education and training programmes, Zamcog funds feeding and housing schemes to ensure that their students have the necessary access to the fundamental rights of food and shelter. Zamcog firmly believes that in order for children to flourish in their education, their well-being must be prioritised first and foremost.
