Soi Dog was established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand by John and Gill Dalley. With an initial goal to help rescue street dogs and cats in Phuket, Soi Dog has now grown into one of the largest animal welfare charities in Asia. Soi Dog’s goal is to provide a humane and sustainable solution to the widespread issues with animal, and specifically dog, welfare in Asia.Soi Dog operates in four key animal welfare protection areas:
1. Rescue and Treatment
2. Spay, Neuter and Vaccination
3. Ending the Dog Meat Trade
4. Community Outreach and Education
The Uggla Foundation donated to Soi Dog in 2021, helping to set up an additional mobile veterinary and rescue clinic. Each of Soi Dog’s mobile clinics operates in a separate location, rescuing, spaying/neutering and treating street and household dogs, all in partnership with the local community. Since inception, Soi Dog has managed to sterilise over 500,000 dogs and cats, significantly reducing the stray populations, subsequently decreasing the number of rescues and supply of animals to the dog meat trade. Kendall Uggla currently sits on the UK Board and Merchandising Board of the Soi Dog Foundation.
