Simon Fraser University

Simon Fraser University ("SFU") is a leading Canadian University based just to the east of Vancouver. Lance Uggla is an alumnus of the university and in December 2020 pledged $34.1m to establish the Uggla Family Scholarships that would pay for the education of ten new undergraduate students every year in perpetuity.

The scholarships are focused on students that have excelled academically, show strong leadership potential and might not otherwise be able to afford to go to University. A small number of the scholarships are reserved for indiginous students and black students. The scholarships cover not only tuition fees, accomodation, meals and books, but also pays for a wider team at SFU that can support the students through their career at SFU.
